Soul Voices Are Quiet Noises Poem by T.A. Rosenbaum

Soul Voices Are Quiet Noises

When witnessing the soaring sunrise
Or pondering the penultimance of lucent love
There is a moment when you feel a fiery ache
A freezing burn
A joyful sorrow
It is that ache
That still that churns
That lead that follows
Which finds, turns, and takes
As it fills, learns, and makes
Us fuller, finer, greater
Slowly softer
The infinite night sky
A sorrow filled goodbye
A sudden shower in the park
Lovers lingering in the dark
When you took me by the hand
We were there, sitting in soft sand
When you took me by the hand
I was wont to speak, as I had planned
But, when you took me by the hand
Looked into my eyes and knew
It was all these things that ring so very true
and more
So I spoke, not a word.
