Soulful Poem by Ibrar Ahmad Siddiqi

Soulful

Rushing through the chaos of the Shopping race.
Just seen a hobo with a kind face.
Wasting my money on the lottery weekly.
Poor old fella stood there with a cup.
I dropped enough for a coffee and some food.

Fed my soul, I'm a little happier.
Got to get up and make this world a better place.
Sick of the Trumps for me don't represent what I need.
I feel the need to save the world and start a revolution.
Feeding and clothing those brothers and sisters,
all over the world needing our help.

Governments and the lotto are going to save you.
Recharge your batteries,
unplug your technology.
Power up your individuality,
power up that heart.
Turn up the heat.
March with your feet.
Save your sweet soul.

Feel like a hippy, everything is free man.
Love, harmony and compassion.
Feed your brethren and sisters too.
Power up you mind and kick-start that soul.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Shopping today in Birmingham city centre, among the German markets and the shops I found a homeless with a beard and clothes holding out a polystyrene cup. I gave away a pound because I'd waste it on a lotto ticket. My soul was lighter and I felt happier.
