Southampton Art House Poem by Edwin Hopper

Southampton Art House

This bloke wants to be a poetry star.
Stand up and show off his brand new essay,
In the Art House Café on Above Bar.

And he's got a mate there, who plays guitar.
They drink a few, and he gets up to say,
This bloke wants to be a poetry star.

He's got the right. There's time for one extra.
That's when he started a total affray,
In the Art House Café on Above Bar.

He hadn't had his meds. He'd sunk a jar.
So... drops his pants, puts it all on display
This bloke wants to be a poetry star

But getting it all out was way too far,
His stripping caused a lot of dismay,
In the Art House Café on Above Bar.

They all said nude poets are too bizarre.
So got to say, there really is no way,
This bloke wants to be a poetry star,
In the Art House Café on Above Bar.
