Spaced-Out Valentine Poem by jacqueline tozer

Spaced-Out Valentine

Once I lived upon a moon in far off space
Amid the universe -a cold and distant place
I never knew the warmth of summer suns
Nor how the blood with sudden passion runs.

You are not a bit like me it seems
Born on a planet where the air just steams
To visit you in your bright place would be ok
If it were not so far away

When we first met upon the station
I had not the slightest hesitation
Our hearts took wing, flashed and flew
I knew you were for me, and I for you.

And as we floated, weightless as a feather,
We fondly kissed and planned our lives together
So now our piggy-bank is full enough to place
a mortgage on a module space.

You are my Valentine and may I say
I'm looking forward to that day
When we, upon our merry nuptial trip,
land on our planet, in a mini-rocket ship.
