Speak For Myself Poem by Paula Glynn

Speak For Myself

Rating: 4.0

If I am oblong,
I am oblong.
If I am a circle,
I am a circle.
If I am square,
I am a square.

I choose for myself,
I speak for myself,
I give myself permission,
I give myself respect.

I am proud of myself,
I am decent to myself,
I never let myself down:
I speak for myself.

I am nice, yet I am nasty,
I am the paradox,
I appreciate power,
I appreciate everyone,
And everything,
With respect and understanding.

I know my limits,
I know my strengths,
I know my skills,
I know my abilities,
I know my intuition,
I know my heart,
And all the desires love brings,

For this person is the best,
This person passes the test,
And everyone respects,
With no hidden agenda,
And fake friendship,

People who betray me,
Go out the door.
Those who tell lies,
I have seen before,
And now they are out the door,

Where to go, they wonder,
But I see them go under,
The waves of the sea,
Drowning them in tears,
The realization of their fears,

But I am not them,
I speak for myself,
I choose my own footing,
I choose my own shoes,
And I choose to not lose.
