'' Specific To You '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' Specific To You ''

Feelings are unique,
They are much more than senses,
That knowledge we seek,
Can bring on pretences,
Make us strong or weak,
Shore up our defences,
Yet the facts we still want to accrue.

They're our mental health,
Our physical being,
Sometimes they use stealth,
They can stop us seeing,
Yet if knowledge is wealth,
At times they need freeing,
Lest they cause us ado.

Each and every day,
They invade our space,
Their morals they'll betray,
To put us in our place,
They can hold so much sway,
Our lives they'll encase,
Some, you will never subdue.

Take the subject of love,
It emits from inside,
Like a hand in a glove,
It warms the divide,
Though a gift from above,
If it's just on one side,
Chaos will ultimately ensue.

The opposite is, hate,
Which can irk and annoy,
Some just can't wait,
This they actually enjoy,
It's a terrible trait,
Which can maim and destroy,
It's an emotion, some love to pursue.

Both can be controlled,
But you've got to be strong,
Though a power to behold,
There's no right or wrong,
More valuable than gold,
This will carry you along,
Though we all take a different view.

That spirit is within,
Only you can ignite,
In the end you will win,
If you put up a fight,
No, it's not a sin,
Self-pride does bring might,
You'll live to see your life through.

In the journey of life,
It's a well-known fact,
What brings joy or strife,
Is, how we react,
Those feelings we attract,
Though varied are rife,
How you cope is,

‘' Specific To You ‘'
