Speed Of Life

What... are we doing?
Running, Rushing
Shouldn't we...
Be slowing Down?
Losing Life
We should be living
Except
We are not!
We are working
Hours long
Earning, spending
Yet not living
Running, rushing
Constantly.
Ageing...
Before Our time
We are not living
Too Busy!
Running, rushing
To get nowhere.
On Arrival...
You stop,
Breathe.
Think.
Think again.
Running, rushing - WHY?
We Need to live
To feel
To breathe
The Speed of Life

Speed of life is so so true your words are on the pulse of busy lives...but there is a light at the end of the tunnel...retirement and its great providing you don't wear yourself out and dance the years away...cheers Lyn (Report) Reply

So true it is, mostly we are running all through to maintain diff foolish needs of our life forgetting to take the real essence of life and at the fag end when we rest by then the body is a prey to aging and thus it's an waste at last.
    Very true. (Report) Reply

So true. Such an important message. Thankfully... such headlong rushing is far behind me. Now, t last, I've slowed down and can enjoy life and my grandkids (when my beast permits it) . (Report) Reply

The same idea I have expressed in a few of my poems! I totally agree with you. Why this mad rush? ? ? We never pause a while to enjoy life! ! I invite you to read my poems- A Fool, Slow down Your Pace and Twilight Broodings, if time permits, all expressing the same thoughts! I enjoyed your poem much! ! (Report) Reply

Time Is by It's A Beautiful Day 1969
Time is too slow for those who wait
and Time is too swift for those who fear
Time is too long for those who grieve
and Time is too short for those that laugh
and love is too slow for those who wait
abd love is too swift for those who fear
and love is too long for those who grieve
and love is too short for those that laugh
But for those who really love
    Bur for those who love
Time, sweet Time, precious Time, lovely Time, all the Time
Time Time Time Time Time Time Time Time Time
    is Eternity (Report) Reply

How true. Having been laid off almost 2 years ago after 33 years with the same company and being unable to find work at anything at all since I've slowed down considerably and I don't regret it. Actually have time to spend with my grandkids. I totally missed my kids growing up but I will not let that happen with the grands. This contains a message that needs to be widely disseminated.
