Standing Her Ground Poem by Chanelnichelle Cook

Standing Her Ground

She's broken laying on the ground
Watching as the world spins around
Broken secrets of her past
Of course her smiles couldn't last

All she wanted was to be somebody
Why couldn't anyone else see

She's been burnt out for a while
She just a girl trapped inside a woman
Watching her reflection in the mirror
As her smile decays from an inner war

All she wanted was to be somebody
But she's forgotten who she was

Alone she's trying to keep it together
But its all fallen apart and gone so wrong
She's still haunted buy the memories
But she's trying to make it better piece by piece
Memories running through her like a knife
She stands up in the rain
Choosing to stand up as it all crashes down

She will stand through her pain
She will stand her ground...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Hello I have been righting poems for a long time. I'm 23 years old right now and I've had a bad past... beginning at the age of seven I became a rape victim and this went on until the day I turned 16. Nothing that I ever wrote ever seems to come out happy and I was told more then once that I should defiantly seek help but no one seems to get me...
this right here is how I cope.
