Staring Into The Abyss Poem by Sven Rhoads

Staring Into The Abyss

Into the darkness of my shadowed mind
Is there a single light left to find
Have I buried all my dreams in this place
Will the sun ever come to shine on my face

Down in this hole that I have dug myself
Now that I'm left with nobody else
I continue to feel like all in me is dying
But I cant comprehend why I'm still surviving

As I stare into the abyss all I have left are the stars
The moon weeps for me but knows there is more to life
I hear them say they feel sorry for me but I cant bare it all
When the morning wont come as I face the point of the knife
As I stare into the abyss and know all left is the fight
The climb out is all that has been on my mind
I see the days of my past and how they're haunting me
Feeling that I have fallen into the frozen world of the blind

On the edge I felt my grip loosen as I fell
Alone in the darkness with my personal hell
In the same hole where I left my heart years ago
Too much time spent since the crust of the snow

One foot in the grave of all I ever was
Could not look around, only looking above
Damned with the poison in my blue veins
Blessed by the knowledge that was fed by pain

I felt despairs rotten and fooling kiss
As I stare into the abyss, darkness betrays
I know all those shadows that spread false bliss
As I stare into the abyss, lies are all they made
