Stay a while
The secrets
Are too bold
And besides,
The stars aren't
Ours to hold
So stay a while.

Let them wait
We have each

Trickle of sunshine
Hanging from
Our lips
Like lackadaisical
Flowers from
Tilted gardens
A thousand-mile
Tether,
Stay a while.

Stay a while
The twilight
Carries
A metamorphosed
Equinox painted
All across
The firmaments
If my heart shivers
To the gnawing cold
I will still
Utter the phrases
That long to cut
Your lips even
If mine freezes
In a fatal austerity.

So stay a while
We might leave
Soon in trains
Or die underneath
The mad rain
So stay a while.
