Step Poem by Tristan Maverick

Rating: 5.0

I find
I find that I can’t find
Can’t find you next to me
And I can’t find me
I can’t find myself
Find who I am
Where I am
What I am
Who I’ll become

But you know
You know who you are
You can find yourself
And you can find me
But is it worth it?

You have everything
Everything at your feet
I have nothing
Nothing in this hole
This hole that trapped me
Trapped me within its darkness

I can’t get out
I can’t find my way
I can’t see
I can’t see your beautiful face
So mesmerizing
I lose myself within your gaze

I see more than just your eyes
You
Your strength
Your empathy
Your caring
Your wisdom
I see me
I see my broken face
My broken form
Trying to piece itself back together
But in vain
For I can not see
For my light is gone

You see me
See me in the abyss
For my light still glows
Faintly present
Asking to be extinguished
Begging to just die
Than live in this pathetic existence

But you see me
But you do nothing
Do you not care?
Why don’t you help me?
Or are you just
Trying to make me see
That I can help myself?
That I have the power
That I have everything you have,
But that I just need to find it.
I just need to let my light flourish.
Let it burn for the world to see
Because I have much to give

Though I can’t give you anything
Anything you want
I have more than enough
More than what you need
My light may flicker
But my love is unyielding

You stand there
Silent
But you’re standing there
Gives me the strength
Gives me the courage to try
To light my fire

Then you see him
A beacon
Like you
A beacon that matches
Your illuminating figure

Then you take a step
A step away
Leaving me
Leaving me in the beginning of my journey
To finish it by myself

Leaving me
Who can shine as bright as the sun
But has yet to light it
I glow, so you see me
So you’ll notice
But you ignore me
You ignore my pleas for help

You step again
I slip
Falter
But regain footing
I try to burn brighter
Burn brighter for you
For you to see me
But I do so in vain

For you step again
You step away,
Towards the light
The light that I can become
But you want it now

You step again
Now out of sight
Without your light
I’m blind
Without you
I’m lost
Exhausted, my light flickers and dies
Lost, I fall into the dark abyss of myself.

Within and without us, You're an eternal flame. Your compassionate mind, heart, and justice you give comprizes your fame. I love that about you.
