Storm Poem by Lila Bet

Storm

Sucked into this whirlwind
Shards of glass
Splinters
Brutal words taking me higher
Spinning faster
Trying to deflect the madness
Cutting
Slicing
Puncturing my already deflated heart

How much more
Can be endured.

How much more

I fall back to Earth

The storm quietens around me

And what is left to salvage

I begin to pick up the pieces

Stick them back somewhat where they belong

I stand
Shakily at first
And begin walking.

The storm is over
