Stormy Evening Poem by C Richard Miles

Stormy Evening

First, a drip... And then, a drop.
It’s a shower: It will stop.
But there are more drops again;
Soon it’s falling: rotten rain,

Splashing, dashing. Thunder crashing,
Lightning tears across the sky,
Roaring, pouring; we’re withdrawing
Back indoors to where it’s dry.

Clouds sweep, scudding; fields fill, flooding.
Rushing, gushing, torrents flow.
Northern breeze’s freezing wheezes
Soon will breathe out sleet and snow.

Through the teeming, light is gleaming
From the rainbow, way up high.
Shower slowing, greyness going,
Soon the weather will turn dry.

Sunlight lazing, it’s amazing.
Cows back grazing, we are lazing
Until nightfall; it’s delightful
Till shadows creep: time to sleep.
