Storybook Poem by Paula Glynn

Storybook

We are all characters in a storybook,
And this book is called Earth,
We all spin with the planet,
And face trials and tribulations,
Drama in every walk of life,
Whether rich or poor,
Ugly or beautiful.

There are those that play records,
And every student learns,
In both class time and the playground,
For everyone plays a part,
Everyone has work to do,
And each job has its challenges.

Each morning is spent opening the mail,
Drinking coffee and taking the kids to school,
Some at home moms,
Other women working full time,
And for all kinds of women,
Reading a book at night,
Is an experience,

For the characters come alive,
On each turning of the page,
This is true for young readers,
Many youngsters loving Nancy Drew,
And the Secret Seven,
As they imagine a supernatural world,
Where Harry Potter really exists,
Flying on a broom,
Or making himself invisible,

And these stories inspire all people,
Those at home moms,
And those women of the world,
And young men play many roles,
Expectations of their work and studies,
And they, too, read books,
Finding inspiration for everyday life,
In those characters,

Where knights in Armour protect the innocent,
And even men who look like women,
For each character can appeal to anyone,
For people in every walk of life,
Need excitement and drama,
In their lives, whether it starts good or bad,

And earth tells many stories,
Many of moms on the school run,
The young man working at McDonald's,
And of office workers,
And even those walking to collect water in Africa,

For time turns the page for each character in life,
Earth's story never ending,
Whether you believe in god or not.
But all are different, all are great,
And everyone has their own storyline,
To write and follow,
As day passes day,
On this beautiful green and blue planet,
The wise know as paradise.
