Straight Lines Poem by Diana van den Berg

Straight Lines

Sometimes the world
is so wrapped in curves
that it forgets
the enchantment
of straight lines
like the steadfast truth
of the parallels of a spanner -
or the magic of rail-road tracks
fading into the distance
to join out of sight.
