Stranger From A Far Land Poem by Francis Duggan

Stranger From A Far Land

You see that fellow there with skin so brown
He is a stranger from some foreign town
His deep suntan tells he's from hot Country
From Spain or France or maybe Italy.

Or Portugal or from the Isles of Greece
Where poor Lord Byron met his lasting peace
His broken English tells he's European
From hotter parts the hottest it would seem.

He's stranger here and from a foreign Land
And his accent is so hard to understand
Oh pity him he's lost and far from home
And out of place and very much alone.

He has no friends here no one that he know
And he seems lost unsure next where to to go
But if only he spoke English fluently
Then what advantage to him that would be.

You see that fellow there with deep suntan
He needs your help go help him if you can
And when he gets back home he'll remember you
As friends in need are precious and so few.
