Strolling Lovers Poem by Andy Barrette

Strolling Lovers

I wonder if the strolling lovers
have a common ground
or if their arm candy relationship
is anything but sound.
If both parties find that they don't
bring something to the table,
then how is it that their shallow love
can be considered stable?
Perhaps I should be wondering
what makes it all worthwhile.
Surely this problem shouldn't be
so hard to reconcile.
Suffice it to say that it must
be worth it in the end
and that perhaps, in growing with a lover,
one can make a friend.
