Stunned By Reality Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Stunned By Reality

Truth has spent,
Moments offending...
Many as if to pester.
While rushed away from it,
They did.
Like they were being followed,
By a stalker.

Well...
Not too many are witnessed,
Rushing away from truth these days.

In fact...
The looks on many faces,
Appears to be shock.
And stunned as if to wonder how,
Their treasured forever kept delusions...
Could vanish before their eyes.

Leaving no time,
For memories to reminisce.
Such a short distance of a drive,
They took from scheduling future dates...
Where they would meet and greet,
Other characters.
Living in a diverse alternate universe!
Unaware...
It had been for them fictioned.

"You folks,
Opening your car doors.
And moving around as if zombies.
Please keep a social distance,
Away from those waiting patiently.
We know how shocking,
Reality and the truth of it can be.
Your presence is beginning,
To frighten even the police.
Please return to your cars.
Our overworked doctors and nurses,
Will be sent to you.
We can not promise to save your mentalities.
However...
We do have the best scientists,
Working on a vaccine...
Quicker and made available.
Uh..."

-Say soon.-

"Soon."
