Sweet Earth Poem by Michael Foster

Sweet Earth

Burrowed within the ground where demons creep
And soaring above earth in the azure sky
Gliding though the oceans blue and deep
This is where I lie

Not on some planet, red and bleak
Nor in some world with strange creatures
For strange things twisted nor evil things I seek
I do not search to preach, to sing, or to be a teacher

I lay here on our dear earth
And listen to the sounds of strife and love
I stay here, by my warm safe hearth
With creatures beneath, next to me and above
