Sweetest Thing Poem by kawambee thomas

Sweetest Thing

She was the sweetest thing I’ve ever known
The most beautiful thing my soul’s been shown
Imagine the perfect day in your mind
Dig deep, take a second, relax and unwind
Can you feel it, taste it, did you paint a good picture
To be there, like heaven, wish come true for the wisher
This sweet thing I held, it was better than this
For those moments, my heart, my mind, it was bliss
This ebony creature, this woman in God’s image
She came, then she left, and I just want to relive it
I want one more moment of time to be in it
It was mystical, magical, I flew to the sky
I could have flown forever on that natural high
From the wild she took me and gave me serene
Went straight through my soul like a breeze in a dream
To the ends of the world and out into space
To the end of infinity you could search to replace
I’ll never find another moment so true
No-matter the place or what I could do
Some may search for these moments the rest of their lives
Endlessly flipping through pages in time
I may not again wake to her sweet heavenly kiss
But I’ve been blessed, at least once, I’ve seen beauty like this…
