My Song Rabindranath Tagore/Ian Inkster
[after Rabindranath Tagore,1861-1941, fundamentally re-written by Inkster for scan and rhyme, from his poem of that title] For the story behind this see Story panel below, for the song see attached MP£ file.
The love in my song shall hold you in its arms
This song of mine will sit by your side and yield its charms
Alone it whispers in your ear, in a crowd it protects
In the darkness of the night, the starlight it selects.
The wings of my song shall take your heart aloft
This song of mine shall touch your life with kisses so soft
It shall see for all your needs, as it carries your sight
On the lonely road I shall give you the strength to fight
This song of mine, is yours You know that's so
And part of me endures As does a river flow
This song is meant for you You know that's so
With words forever true I shall never go.
The words of my song shall wind around your soul
This song of mine will speak to you and not grow old
And when my voice is silent to death and we're apart
My song will speak to you softly in your living heart.
This song of mine, is yours You know that's so
And part of me endures As does a river flow
This song is meant for you You know that's so
With words forever true I shall never go.
