Take Heart Poem by Sandeep Mandal

Take Heart

Fear not my friend
You are but a universe in making
The initial jolt and jerk
A setup only to launch you into the orbit
Once placed you glide smoothly
No fear of fall
Nothing to pull you down or up at all
Down meets up and up down
No south no north, no east no west
No hurry no haste
Only sailing round and round
The source that keeps the light ever lit
A journey with no time nor any bound.

Hear not my friend
Hear not the chattering monkey
That makes faces of various shades and colour
Red, blue, green, grey, all kinds there are
Fleeting stroke of brush
Truth isn't beauty, beauty isn't truth
Faded is the bride's blush.

Utter not my friend
Utter not a single word of self pity
Nor confuse it ever with humility
Bow down but with a graceful poise
Raise your head like a man not boys
Feel the weight of the anchor drowned
Feel it firmly fixed to the deepest ground.

Therefore,
Take heart my friend
Be steady and be brave
For God chooses those who He deems fit
To proclaim His words and the Holy Spirit
His words might resonate with the innocent
But to the courageous only the oracles are sent.
