Tears Poem by Edwina Reizer

Tears

Tears, tears please leave my eyes.
I do not wish to sympathize
with all that seems to trouble me.
If you will leave then I'll be free.

Each time I feel my eyes are dry
guilt appears and then I cry.
Salty tears that dribble on my face
bring me to a sad, sad place.

Smiles please replace my tears.
I do not wish in my waning years
to spend my days in deep-felt sorrow.
I need to awaken to a bright tomorrow.

The tears I've shed could fill a lake.
And oh the toll that they did take.
What good they are I do not know.
They just come. They just flow.
