Temporary Use Of The Remote Poem by Catherine Casey

Temporary Use Of The Remote

We have our own plans.

This channel’s not for us.

There’s everything we need, but how boring is that!

Let’s toy with the control and rip off the cover.

These batteries are basic let’s make our own.

Hey! There’s a dual use for our new energy source.

We can power some zappers and blow up the neighbours’ telly.

They won’t even see us.

Distance. Laser-targeted. This is fun.

Our armchairs are safe.

This is gonna cost.

If we set up work-dependant towns no one will moan.

It will be harder to pull the plug.

If we stay up later we can watch more.

More is better. Let’s diversify.

The plan is working..

Choice! Choice is the answer.

Who needs one truth when we can have many?

A reformed way of living.

A name to catch on.

Circuitry; now there is the future.

A bit of rewiring here and a bit of tinkering there.

The tables are just about fully turned.

Someone at the other side of the world is complaining.

Let them.

We are okay thank you very much Jack.

Who’s dying?

Longer life coming up...eventually.

2D to 3D and now with instant replay.

We’re almost there.

Reality is our own invention.

With a beer in the fridge who needs a conscience.

Hey! Who routed the same programme to every channel?

That’s not in our manifesto.

Look! You can make out through the interference.. a figure.

Look out! The Designer is on his way.

What’s that he’s bringing?

A whole new channel.

It’s more than we could have dreamed of.

Just look at those special effects! !

Hang on a minute.

It says, ‘For the faithful ones'.

Anyone know what that means?

It was on the what? The boring channel?

Why are my teeth grinding?

END
