Terrible Mistake Poem by Samantha White

Terrible Mistake

I know I hurt you and said good-bye,
but every word I said was just a lie.
I need you now more than ever;
I had always thought we would be forever.
Lost in a darkness from which I can't escape,
Suddenly feeling nothing but hate.
I meant to say I love you but it came out wrong,
I said that without you I would be strong.
Now that you're gone I realize my mistake,
and now it is with pain that my heart aches.
I was so foolish to let you go,
my love for you just seems to grow.
Now I have to live my life in pain and regret,
for a mistake I made and will never forget.
I know I hurt you but can I have you back?
It seems you are the part of my life that I lack.
I am begging for a second chance,
I want more than just a forgotten romance.
If you won't take me back I will belong to no one,
I will love you even until my life is done.
You were my first love and my last;
you are perfect and cannot be surpassed.
Though you may soon forget all about me,
I will wait forever I hope you will see.
It was only in your arms that I felt protected;
by the words in our hearts we were connected.
I made the biggest mistake in my life,
now the words I couldn't take back are forgotten with the knife.
