Terrified Of Three Little Words Poem by Michelle Dickson

Terrified Of Three Little Words

being scared
now that’s life
but being scared of love
is something different altogether

what I am afraid of
you cannot hear or see
what I am afraid of
is you and me

I am afraid
of you and me
and what
we could be

I am afraid of the pain I will feel
if you do not return the love
that can heal
all these scars from the past

I am afraid that I will see
the darker side of life
and end it all
with one swift strike
from a blade that’s shines
like some holy divine
caught within the hands of the devil

You can save me
with three little words
or you can brake me
with three different words

but know this now
what does not shine
here and now
will shine brighter than the coming dew
when my life is taken away
and sent to another plane.

My life
or my death
will either be the work
of God
or the Devil
depending on
your three little words.
