Terrorism of The Mind

Flowers in hand, embraces in check, kisses ready
No Malaysian Flight MH-370 descends to airport
Stick figures with orange directional batons
Have no orchestral duties and no airplane to guide

The beige accordion people-moving tunnel hushes eerily still
And the minds held hostage of those left wondering
Embark on an uncontrolled emotional bleed for the next 22 days
Beginning with the news the plane is in the China Sea

Correction now. Rewind. It made a left turn to the west
Oops, sorry. Flight MH-370 did NOT make a turn to the left
We repeat. The aircraft did not make that left turn
Scratch that. The plane made a left turn

Sorry again. Right aircraft, hopefully, but wrong body of water
Your loved ones are in the south end of the Indian Ocean
We are certain this is where Flight MH-370 ended
Ended? Authoritative mouths moving, but what are they saying?

Slow motion, blurry words, camera bulbs flashing, flowers wilted
Hopes dashed, spirits lifted, guts punched, optimism assassinated
And here come the radar photos one after another
All unrelenting cruel terrorism of the mind of the bereft

We have here a Cheeto-shaped white object
It could be litter from this God-forsaken dumping ground
Where every fucking Dixie Cup on the planet apparently ends up
It could be aircraft debris 4 feet or possibly even 72 feet long

Forget all that. This is not the outcome we were hoping for
We must discount all those radar photos and move 700 miles NE
All that other debris was ocean crap of some kind or another
Gurneys are brought in for the wailing; onlooking World gasps

A candle surely burns in hell for the unfair part of life
Things that cause us immeasurable grief, hemorrhaging hearts
The mind torment and cortisol rushes, insomnia and raw ache
But perhaps there’s a rose of relief in heaven, a perfect rose

I invite you to read my poems Clock Stopped and Immersed In The Mystery, as I too pray the anguish for the families of souls on that missing flight are somehow brought some PEACE. Your write is so topical and correctly shows the barrage of misinformation, that alone adds to the incredible grief. Thank you for sharing it...we remain on watch. (Report) Reply
