Terrorism Resurrects.....? Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Not very long ago,
objectively and determinedly
we put a decisive full stop
to gruesome terrorism

Pain in some, consolation to
a small nation in Indian ocean

For a decade, we were breathing freely
living a calm, quiet and settled life
Whilst a clandestine devilish germ
was thriving under the carpet

What a disaster it caused
on a day like Easter Sunday
the day of Holy man's resurrection

Prayers and poojas were washed in blood
Devotees inside were shattered into pieces
Walls in the churches smeared and stained
with blood sprays and fleshy bits and pieces

Cruel bomb sow no difference
in caste, creed and faith
not even the skin color
in hundreds innocents
infants, youth, old weak poor alike
were among dead

Where are we heading
what are we trying to accomplish

Gruesome terrorism, ....
May it be perished
Once and for all... for good
All mighty God.... Come on
Don't you have a choice?
