Thank You Poem by beautiful imperfection

I was sitting here
feeling so small and alone
when all my fear
came back to the suface.
I'm so afraid
of everything in life,
I don't take chances,
and I bask in strife.
But then you asked me what was wrong,
and gave me good advice,
before I knew it, it didn't take long,
you had me laughing and enjoying my life.
Now I'm truly happy
for the first time in a while,
and I'm no longer hiding
behind my ever-present fake smile.
I'm giving my self a second chance
and I'm gonna enjoy my life,
I won't let anything get in the way; not a chance.
For now I'm a truly different person,
and I like it this way,
now I'm so much better,
better than before,
thanks for being such a great friend
and re-opening the door
I try to hide behind.
Because of you,
myself I can find.
Thank you, my friend,
for always being there,
you've never given up on me,
and today it proved to be
worth more than you could ever see.
