Thanksgiving Poem by Daniel Brick

Thanksgiving

Rating: 5.0

Each day exults
in its measure of Light.
Its attendant darkness,
however large or small,
does not diminish this joy.
I sit in my recliner
every morning and witness
the daily beauty of however
much Light us granted. What is
given us is sufficient to evoke
appreciation. What matters is
the gratitude that connects
me to the Light. This is how
I participate in the glory
each dawn unfolds into the world.
How long this glory lasts
- a few hours, or a whole day,
or a forever-moment that mocks
the futile "tick-tock" of clocks -
depends on my willingness to lift
my voice in affirmation by means
of a poem, or an act of agape,
or a conscious hour of delight
in the Light pooling around me.
It is so easy to be happy in the world!

Hey, Daniel! Been harder to spend time in PH lately, but here I am checking out your new entries. As I expect you would have guessed, I like the feel of this poem. I’m especially taken with the lines a forever-moment that mocks the futile “tick-tock” of the clock. A senryu of mine came to mind reading this; it’s titled “Enough.” Glen

Measures of light attends measures of darkness and expels this darkness through its power of golden rays. Light is granted to us through wisdom and moment of time. Everything depends on willingness. Conscious hour delights this world and poets write beautiful poems. This poem is also excellently penned..10
