That Day Poem by Zach Taylor

The pain I felt that day I can't explain, not like a punch or kick in the gut,
Definitely not like being dumped for the first time,
Or getting surgery on my tailbone and not being able to sit down.
It's hard to say what I felt that day of oh so long ago, but here's the best I can tell.
It was like being run over about thirty or forty times by a semi- truck,
Being smashed with a chair upside the head a dozen times,
And being punched in the gut until I hurled.
That's how I felt on the day of June 22,2001.
