The Ace Dream Poem by nicholas gannon

The Ace Dream

I had a dream that I was on an air base
Stuck in an arms race
Supported by a back brace
Paid for by the black race
Watching the clocks face
My mind filled with dark space
Feeling like a disgrace
Feeling like displace
Like I should start to embrace
Just incase
I don’t make it to first base
In case I get erased
Like I’m losing a foot race
While I’m wearing a knee brace
Like I’m going to get re placed
My steps get re traced
Tripping over my shoe lace
While keeping a straight face
Cramped in this living space
Stuck in a paper cha$e
Trying to stay at a steady pace
Writing in lower case
Learning the upper case
Just trying to find my place
