The Balkans And The Bride Of Abydos

The large part of the Balkans
under Turkish control around 1800
went by the name of Roumelie.

In The Bride Of Abydos, line 773,
Byron rhymed it conveniently
with 'but most from me'.

It included Greece in the south.
Its north-eastern frontier
was up around Danube's mouth.

You're probably saying, Why should I care?
Well -! stuff in The Bride... occurs up there.
