The Battle Between Body And Soul Poem by Manoshi Sinha

The Battle Between Body And Soul

Rating: 5.0

What the verve! What the gaiety!
When the soul and body were attuned;
Life was vibrant, rich, and animated
Blissful visages stimulated chronic life.
Those were the days!

They say after spring comes summer;
Ere long autumn and winter hold sway;
If spring brings hope, the cycle afresh
Why does the body cease to spring up,
When winter bids adieu?

Paralyzed puppets in the hands of destiny
Oh! Strange is the cycle of life! Sigh!
When the battle between life and death,
Begins with renewed zest and fervor;
The glorious soul rejoices, the body fades!

As the body cruises in this journey,
Light and darkness are but humdrum,
Why this eclipse in the winter of life?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Like the four seasons, life faces each phase gradually. After winter comes spring, the cycle afresh. But for life, after winter, the soul bids adieu! The battle between the body and soul seems visible when prolonged diseases take a toll, especially in the winter of life. Fortunate are those who live the winter with zest; the body and soul conspire and the latter leaves peacefully! Eclipse at the winter of life can be any, few or all of critical diseases, loneliness, financial problems, homelessness, etc.

Life! ! Body and soul; with the muse of the seasons. Nice work.
