The Battle Within Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua

The Battle Within

You employ scams
to avoid your reflection
You’re countenance
you cannot behold.

You continue to strive
for victories over others
and ignore the demons
that becloud you.

A battle against yourself is too costly:
Your sins and comfortable habits
Are no longer wrong in your eyes.

You ponder in search for thrills
You bask in earthly applause
And rest in the glory
of your self-righteousness.

In your acquisition of knowledge
You failed to understand
that the greatest victories in life
are those we gain over ourselves.
