The Beast Poem by Muhammad Yahya

The Beast

No, no, no!
This won’t do
Girls get pregnant
Men just woo
But what did I do?

Clarity through pain
The idea of disdain
Grandly fits the description
I need a prescription
Until it rains

Somewhere in the past
That lonely animal sat
Alone and angry
And he would’ve wondered
About the corrupted valor
About the cold death
That I experience everyday

My talons were tamed
Through constant leashing
So I can’t get back at you for now
But you should not take it for granted
‘Cuz no body is forever dead
Or so the epitaph read
Of the beast…
