The Bell Tolls For None Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

The Bell Tolls For None

He was swimming
The milky ocean of full moon
As the stars told him the tale
Of the heavens and rotating bodies!
It was abrupt to note
That a black cloud hid
The smiling moon
And a breeze started to hiss
And kiss him around.
Then the rain lashed
And unleashed the typhoon
Where he wade through the flood
To reach a bank to sit.
But the trees with its branches
Stroke its beasts in awe
As if a whirl mounts over.
He found no forest to hide
No mountain to climb
No stars from the heavens
Leaping hands to save him!
He broode over yesterday's supper
Where the twelve with bread and wine
Spent the night lavishly
And dispersed to their mission!
He was to move to a place
To kneel down in deep prayer
To urge the messiah to rouse
And to resurrect
And to take him to the heavens!
The morning Sun's eyes
Hooked on his mortal
Tainted with red clay
And the chill of the rain
Where his eyes never opened
His lips never opened
His tongue never uttered
His ears never heard
The bell of the church
That tolls for Him!
