The Bond Of Pain Poem by Ajit Das

The Bond Of Pain

Rating: 5.0

Are you missing out something
the holy book of wedlock
cannot offer?
Perhaps it’s a reality:
we’re in faithless times.
And as life is short,
do you, then, need an affair?

A hush-hush dating,
a clandestine stint of infidelity
outside the insipid relationship
can be spicy, and you may roam
with a cheating heart
in a stimulating environment
to satisfy your appetite
for an ersatz flavour.

But this momentary craving
for a change may leave you stranded
in the waning days, searching
for the missing thread of faith
that binds you both
in pleasure and in pain.

Well said on the definition of present day love.

This is a very sad situation but, at the same time, the poem serves as a warning shot. It calls for extra caution so as to protect vulnerable souls from outrage. Thanks for your choice of words. I would like to quote: to satisfy your appetite / for an ersatz flavour.
