The Boy On His Bed Poem by Dan Brown

The Boy On His Bed

Rating: 0.5

Midnight moon creeps through the window
and finds a hunched figure in the corner.
They cast a hunched shadow on the floor.
Desperate to hide, they withdraw more.
Crisp night air is filled with their gentle sobs
as the moonlight evaporates and affords them privacy.
The darkness that suddenly devours the room only
serves to remind them that night brings with it no ally,
and so follows a renewed cry.
The door opened, allowing light and raucous noise
to flood the room.
The un-illuminated figure pressed further against the wall,
wishing frantically to be part of the darkness that
would slip away when the light arrived.
He drew up his knees, and buried his head,
brutally unloved, the boy on his bed.
