The Brainwashed Youths Poem by Bernard Chalk

The Brainwashed Youths

Those that are glitzy and glamorous… the scourge of music.
They prance delightedly on their high horse, suckering open-minded
Youngsters of a generation to the intrinsic
Superficialness of their financially moulded

‘Talent’ that has been so hideously infected.
But it is these people they will line themselves against.
They will poison their pockets, even when enraged
Agents gaze upon glossy magazines which reveal their uncanniest

Features: a wretched, faulty and forlorn creature; not the noblest.
This acquired at the mere cost of childish innocence,
A small price considering all is needed is the simplest
Of ingredients: preferably skinny and still subject to adolescence

Or at least malleable, enhanced by some factor of luminescence
That can be recognised by the humblest mind
Which will scurry and search anew after the obsolescence
Of fashion makes redundant last month’s new find.

However, currently these unreasonable faithful
Continue to prove that ignorance can be blissful.
