The Mystery Brush Poem by Bernard Chalk

The Mystery Brush

Splash the colour against the wall,
Allow yourself to melt into its message
Because the earth without art is just ‘eh’,
Let’s celebrate the mystery brush.

It’s the 21st Century and we’re bringing back that air of mystery,
The fame of Jay, Sparrow, the return of Gatsby,
The questions that linger, the wonder, the mysticism,
Let’s celebrate the mystery brush.

Subtract the cameras and the guns,
The security guards and unbreakable locks
Throw back the swords and chance of escape,
Let’s celebrate the mystery brush.

It’s a sick fascination?
A Bonnie & Clyde nation?
The bling ring is much more than that,
It celebrates the mystery brush.

If you have nothing to fear then you have nothing to hide?
It makes you want to live in the shade.
And turn back the clock by more than just hours,
Let’s celebrate the mystery brush.
