The Burden Of Murder Poem by Paula Glynn

The Burden Of Murder

Rating: 5.0

If you cut me, I will bleed,
You will carry the burden of murder,
As you stare into my dying eyes,
And see me cry, and you will cry too.

Your guilt and tears will consume you,
There'll be no respite,
Only me to wake with every morning,
And your thoughts will not be your own,
You'll carry in your heart a stone,
Each day a toiling effort,
Leaving you sweating and crying with the effort.

No dream will be your own,
No thought will free you from your actions,
For you'll be trapped in your empty heart,
As your world falls apart,
Regret as you remember my dying eyes,
Regret of time you cannot turn back,
And there will be sweat on your back,
That no amount of soap can wash off.

You'll wish yourself dead,
But you'll walk under the burning sun instead,
Desperate for a glass of water,
But there is no water here, only thirst,
And there is no food here, only hunger.
You've got a long, long road to tread,
So remember, when you cut me, you will bleed,
And it'll be you crying and in need.
