The caged bird
- - - - - - - - - -
This world is cruel and bitter
You have taken away their eyes
You have taken away their ears
What remain is their clipped wings
And when their frail feet open
With a hope to walk and fly
They quiver seeing themselves in chain
They flap their wings
They shake their emotions
Earnestly do they beseech for liberation
But to no avail
Striking against the iron bars
To break open and fly in the sky
Imprisoned are such lovely birds in cages
For they are for sale!
We are no better than the caged birds
Supposed to be flying in the open skies
And touching the splendour of rain
We are caged by egos and desires
We are prisoners of our own selves
In a tiny cage of the self called, ‘EGO'
We have forever chained ourselves
Be aware and be awakened
We have to break free from petty ends
To find our wings to fly away
To such a dreamland
Where freedom is a joy from within
we are always in a cage created by ego and selfishness....................nice...
Break free of the ropes that bind....! All of us are cocooned in our own narrow self without ever coming out into the wider world of freedom and the limitless possibilities it entails! Unfortunately the chains with which we are manacled are not given by any external agent of authority, but by ourselves, our ego! If we can kill our bloated ego, we will be able to breathe freely! Great write Deepak!
yes poet, we allow ourselves to be imprisoned with our narrowness and self-centered views.

Great write. Many of us are entrapped in our pride or ego and that has shackled us from becoming what we could become otherwise. Nice portrayal of of the cost of loss for egocentrics.
