The Choice Poem by Sue Wij

The Choice

Lopsided smiles
Silent whispers
the hasty glance, lingering
A bit too long.

Chilly wind biting
cutting short the frown
Hurried steps
in paths un crossed

Buzzing hub of life
Stunned in a flash
all enclosed
engrossed
engaged

but for one -
alone,
outside,
outcast.

Punished
for not saying no.

I'm proud I kept you.
