The Cost Of Knowing Poem by derrick foster

The Cost Of Knowing

he sits reading in a library
about a time
he would not be allowed
he may have even been killed
for the attempt
a chilling thought made real
by history passed down
to think wanting knowledge
could cost him his life
as it did many before
he now appreciates
the sacrifice for the freedom
to sit and read about it
