The Dance Poem by Aimee Nell

The Dance

She twitched her fingers and the words danced for her.
The girl who had gained and lost everything,
Time and time again.
So she held onto her words,
The only thing she had left.
And she made them dance.
She made them sing.
She made them scream.
She made them cry out in joy and pain.
She made them fly
And she made them fall.
She made them freeze.
Then she made them thaw.
And she made them burn
In the infernos of a life lived.
She made them run.
She made them jump.
She made them drown
In the river they created.
And she made the swim to shore again,
To continue to whisper to her.
And she made them dance.
And she made them -
Everything.
And she made them -
Everything she was.
And she made them -
Everything she wanted to be.
And she made them dance.
