The Day I Died Poem by Soha Zidan

The Day I Died

Rating: 4.6

The story started suddenly
when I simply chocked.
In a minute I stopped blinking
and couldn't do any thinking.
I knew death was knocking
but not asking or checking.
It merely entered and carried
my body to be finally buried

I couldn't believe my eyes
I'm dead with no more tries
and helplessly put in my grave
not knowing what to crave
not even a chance
to go back and enhance.
I had nothing but to wait
and see what will come straight.

A sudden light hit my eyes
In the middle of my cries.
I tried to sit up and see
what this light would turn to be
but suddenly a hand held me back
saying, 'Sit still and stick
to the grave rules we have put
for every buried body to track

I asked WHO ARE YOU?
are you here to help or not true?
The light answered with a few
words that gave me no clue
I'm here to question and value
What on Earth you have achieved
were you good or were you thieve
Did you kill or did you deceive?

I quickly screamed 'OH NO'
I have committed not a crime or so
I've lived an innocent living
with hope to end without grieving
with hope that heaven would accept
to have me with no except
and hell would close its doors
and say you have no chores

The light answered me 'YES'
I have been sent to give you bless
you are one who fairly built
and honestly have no guilt
Heaven is excited and delighted
to have a decent insighted
one who has prepared
for heaven she has declared

I gave those words a thought
if people would work for reward
if people would work for heaven
not stealing, cheating or threaten
Life would blossom all through
with flowery days with dew
I wished to come back to say
LOVE, LIVE AND PLAY
but don't forget that day
when you will be asked to pay.

Thanks, Kelly, for dropping a note. Yes, I remember being very emotional about the topic which made me interpret my feelings into poetry.
