The Dirt Poem by Scott J. Shepard

The Dirt

Please leave me alone,
This damn gnat's got alotta racket
Buzzing around my brain

The dirt sticks to my skin
I could scoop it off and save it
In a jar to look back on

Leave it there,
Memorials to the dirt

Please leave me alone,
If you're not here to help
Just add sand to the jar

The gnats already dug
Deep into the cartilage of my ear
Stripped me naked
And laughed at my vulnerability

That dirt on my skin
Saved in a jar
To marvel at later
For the spectators to bid on
