The Duped Woman Poem by Francis Duggan

The Duped Woman

He was quite a good looking fellow and he found it easy to smile
But he was a wilful deceiver and he had the gift of the guile
And Mandy she fell for his charm and she was not hard to deceive
He told her how truly he loved her and his false words she did believe.

Mandy was in her mid thirties when the handsome Roy came along
And he was about six years younger and confident virile and strong
She fell for him at their first meeting and one might say in a big way
And from him she learned a lesson and for it a huge price did pay.

She works as a secretary for a building company with her own home and twenty grand in the bank
And she is a successful woman and for that herself she can thank
But now she is ten thousand worse off all thanks to her ex lover man
He conned her into investing in his non existent company and off with her money he ran.

She is not the only one he's duped that's how he earns his livelihood
So many women due to him worse off for others he never does good
And if the law does not catch up with him then karma will nab him one day
For any wrongs we do to others there always is some price to pay.

She fell for his good looks and charm and he reduced her bank account
And though ten thousand dollars won't break her it's still a substantial amount
Even for a middle class woman to be out of pocket but such is life as some one once said
And suppose this always will happen when the heart it does rule the head.
