The Emptiness That He Can Only Fill Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Emptiness That He Can Only Fill

when you wake up
you know that the woman
you sleep with
throughout the night has
already left for the
morning church and here
you are still carrying
inside your body an
emptiness which she has
not filled
despite....

and you mumble again
forgive forgive me Lord
i make a plea
for You to come inside me
to fill me
it is this emptiness which
no one ever fills
this nest where you shall
hover and stay
to lay the eggs as blessings
for my fading future....
